Happy Friday, everyone! No post-US Open lull here, it’s time for your weekly rally across the top five stories in racket sports.
Keep scrolling for the answer to this week’s trivia question: Who is the only player in tennis history to win all four majors and Olympic gold in a single calendar year?
1️⃣ Jack Draper Out for the Season
Jack Draper’s 2025 season has come to a premature end. The British No. 1 confirmed this week that a persistent left arm injury will sideline him for the remainder of the year.
The setback stems from a bone bruise he picked up at Wimbledon that forced Draper to withdraw from the US Open before his second-round match.
The 23-year-old won the title at Indian Wells in March and reached two other finals, but his progress was interrupted by the lingering injury.

2️⃣ Changes For Team Medvedev
Daniil Medvedev is making changes to his team as he looks to turn the page on a disappointing 2025 season. The 2021 US Open champion won just a single Grand Slam match this year. Following his early exit in New York, Medvedev split with longtime coach Gilles Cervara and fitness trainer Eric Hernandez.
He was spotted training with 2002 Australian Open winner Thomas Johansson, along with coach Rohan Goetzke, in hopes of building momentum to close out the season.
Medvedev is ranked World No. 18 after sliding 13 spots this season.
3️⃣ Lleyton Hewitt Suspended & Davis Cup Headlines
Australia’s Davis Cup captain Lleyton Hewitt was handed a two-week suspension by the ITIA following allegations that he pushed an anti-doping official after Australia’s semifinal loss to Italy last fall. Hewitt has denied the charge, claiming he acted in self-defense.
The former World No. 1 expressed his frustration with the ruling, and said he will appeal.
If the suspension is upheld, Hewitt’s ban would begin later this month, which means he is still expected to lead Australia in this weekend’s matchup against Belgium, with a place in the Davis Cup Finals at stake.
Elsewhere, Canada’s Davis Cup tie against Israel will be played in Halifax without fans in attendance. Organizers confirmed the decision was made due to heightened security concerns.
The matches will still go on despite more than 400 Canadian athletes and academics calling for the event to be cancelled over Israel's actions in Gaza.
CBC News reports activists are now pressing for the cancellation of the livestream of the event, though the network said it will move forward with the broadcast.

Aryna Sabalenka’s victory over Amanda Anisimova attracted 2.4 million viewers on ESPN, a 50% increase from the 2024 women’s final.
Early round coverage also saw a ratings bump, including the most viewed quarterfinals in ten years.
